MEET OUR TEAM
Lara Elizabeth Vyas is the owner and principal designer of Natural Greenscapes.
Lara is a Certified Professional Horticulturist (by WSNLA), a Master Pruner (by Plant Amnesty), a Comprehensive Organic Gardener (by Seattle Tilth) and a Master Naturalist (by the City of Bellevue (read more about it on the garden blog)
Lara has designed several residential landscapes for private clients, each garden customized to suit their needs and reflect their lifestyle. As a garden coach, she has trained her clients to plant, prune and maintain their garden sustainably. As an educator, she hopes to inspire people to be more conscious of the environment they live in.
In her spare time, Lara enjoys knitting, cooking and spending time with her family.
After a successful career in database technologies, Lara channeled her passion for plants into the world of horticulture and landscape design. She earned her AS degree in Environmental Horticulture and Design from Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, CA in 2004. Since then, she has honed her technical skills at Grimes Natural Landscapes, Los Altos as a landscape designer and mastered organic gardening at Seattle Tilth as a Garden Steward for the Pickering Barn Learning Garden in Issaquah.
Her experience in spearheading the implementation of the expansion of the Pickering Barn Garden – an effort to renew the garden with native plant beds, wildlife habitat areas, wetland areas, perennial edibles, vegetable beds and on-site composting, inspired her to start Natural Greenscapes in 2011.
Christy Jones is a part of our fine-gardening team. As a life-long gardener, Christy has worked grounds crew for both BYU Idaho and Utah State University. She did an internship at Monrovia nursery in Dayton, Oregon while pursuing her degree in Horticulture. She has worked at several retail nurseries including Molbaks in Woodinville. In her free time she enjoys hiking, baking and spending time with her three children and husband.
“There’s something about digging in the dirt and growing plants that helps to settle my soul and makes me feel alive inside. I love the smell and feel of dirt on my hands. Roses are my favorite. I am passionate about healthy sustainable gardens and I feel that a well planed and maintained garden can make outdoor living more enjoyable”
